For taste, goodness, & health-promoting properties it is essential that only natural ingredients are used. This has always been the policy of Folláin! We do NOT use any artificial preservatives or colourings in the manufacture of our preserves.
A 100-year old recipe, passed on through several generations, was the secret of Folláin's first product, a chunky grapefruit marmalade. Building on this modest beginning, preparing the fruit and cooking in kitchen-style conditions, has grown steadily, increasing its range of preserves and expanding to what is now a modern food factory, built and fully equipped to the highest standards of hygiene.
Sparing no effort in ensuring a stringent level of quality control, the raw ingredients are sorted, de-pipped and prepared by hand, so that only the tasteful and wholesome elements of the various fruits are used in cooking.
From this initial stage the ingredients are mixed, cooked, filled and capped on a fully automatic stainless steel production unit, installed in a completely air-conditioned environment.
Throughout the years the demand for Folláin products has multiplied many times, yet the secret of its home-made quality is maintained without compromise to modern production methods.
