Tuna Melt with Relish

A twist on the tried-and-true tuna sandwich,

These zippy oven melts make for a fabulous lunch, serve with your favorite Folláin relish.

Irish Tomato Relish

  • 1 can (170 g) Drained flaked tuna
  • 2 Spring onions (chopped)
  • 2 heaped tsp Folláin Tomato, Fire Roasted Pepper or Exotic Fruit Relish
  • 50g Grated cheddar cheese
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 Sesame buns (you could also use baguettes)


  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF/gas mark 5.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the tuna, chopped spring onions, and cheese.
  3. Add the mayonnaise and Folláin Relish and stir to mix.
  4. Spoon the tuna mixture into split buns, dividing it evenly.
  5. Wrap each bun tightly in foil.
  6. Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes — or until the cheese is melted and the filling is hot.
  7. Serve immediately.
