DIY Snow Globe
A homemade snow globe is one of our favorite festive ways to repurpose an empty Folláin jar. Such a fun craft to do with family during Christmas.
Prep time: 20 mins
Materials
- 1 empty, clean Folláin jam jar with lid
- 1 mini Christmas tree (an old decoration, or a small piece of your Christmas tree)
- Glycerin (available at pharmacies) or clear glue
- Distilled water
- Glitter or artificial snow
- Waterproof superglue or a hot glue gun
Method
- Secure the Tree: Use the waterproof superglue or a hot glue gun to attach the base of your mini Christmas tree to the inside of the jam jar lid. Allow it to dry completely, ensuring a strong bond
- Fill the Jar: Fill your jar nearly to the top with distilled water. Add a dash of glycerin or clear glue to the water; this will make the glitter fall more slowly, enhancing the snowfall effect
- Add the Snow: Sprinkle a generous amount of glitter or artificial snow into the water. The amount can be adjusted according to how blustery you’d like your snow globe storm to be
- Assemble the Globe: Once the base is secure and the glue is dry, carefully insert your Christmas tree into the jar and tightly screw the lid back on
- Seal the Jar: For extra security against leaks, apply a layer of waterproof superglue around the rim before closing the jar. Let it set
- Shake and Enjoy!
