Ingredients
- 3 Large Cooking apples
- 5 tbsp Folláin Strawberry or Raspberry Jam
- 200g (7 oz) Plain flour
- 55g (2 oz) Sugar
- 55g (2 oz) Dark muscovado sugar (or dark brown sugar)
- 30g (1 oz) Porridge oats
- 85g (3 oz) Butter or margarine
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180 ºC/350 ºF/gas mark 4.
- Peel, core and slice the apples and place in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Cook slowly over low heat, stirring now and then until the apples are soft and mushy (about 10 minutes).
- Place the apple pulp in an ovenproof dish and allow it to cool.
- When it has cooled, cover with a thin layer of Folláin Jam.
- Mix the flour, sugar, butter or margarine, oats and cinnamon together with your fingertips to form small crumbs.
- Sprinkle onto the top of the prepared apples and jam.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 – 45 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Serve with fresh whipped cream or ice cream.
