Traditional Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 3–4 tbsp Folláin Fig Preserve
  • 80–100g Blue Cheese
  • 1 beaten egg (for glazing)
  • Optional: cracked black pepper, thyme leaves, chopped walnuts

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (fan 180°C). Line a baking tray with parchment.
  2. Unroll puff pastry and cut into long rectangles (roughly 6–7 cm wide).
  3. Spread a thin layer of Folláin Fig Preserve down the centre of each rectangle.
  4. Crumble blue cheese generously along the same line.
  5. Fold pastry over the filling and seal the edges firmly with a fork.
  6. Brush with egg wash; sprinkle with thyme or pepper if you like.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and crisp.
  8. Slice into “grown-up fig rolls” and serve warm.
